Peptides for Testosterone: What Kisspeptin Research Shows, and What It Does Not
This page covers how testosterone production is controlled, what research has looked at for kisspeptin and testosterone, why the other peptides people ask about do not belong in this conversation, what low testosterone actually means, fertility, and how kisspeptin is prescribed. If you are already on testosterone, read can you take peptides with testosterone; the full comparison of mechanisms is peptides vs TRT and steroids.

Kisspeptin is the one peptide with human research on testosterone: in short studies, intravenous kisspeptin-54 and kisspeptin-10 raised LH and testosterone within hours in healthy men, and kisspeptin-10 did the same in men with type 2 diabetes and mild biochemical hypogonadism. No trial has measured what a subcutaneous kisspeptin course does to testosterone over weeks, the response fades with continuous exposure, and the FDA's 2024 review found the evidence insufficient to support kisspeptin-10 for low testosterone. Growth-hormone-axis peptides and PT-141 do not raise testosterone. Pepti does not prescribe or sell testosterone, and no peptide is a substitute for testosterone replacement. Compounded peptides are not FDA approved.

Peptides for Testosterone
The short answer
| Peptide | Effect on testosterone in the live research | Strength of evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Kisspeptin | Acute rise in LH and testosterone after single intravenous doses in men (2005, 2011, 2013) | Human, short-term, intravenous; no trial of a subcutaneous course |
| Sermorelin, CJC-1295, ipamorelin, tesamorelin | None; they act on growth hormone, a separate axis | Not a testosterone booster |
| PT-141 | None; it acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain and does not raise testosterone or estrogen | Not a testosterone booster |
| BPC-157, TB-500 | Not described as moving testosterone | Not a testosterone booster |
| Testosterone replacement | Supplies testosterone directly; suppresses your own production | Approved treatment for diagnosed hypogonadism; not offered by Pepti |
The honest summary: one peptide touches the testosterone system, it does so from the top rather than by supplying the hormone, and its human evidence measured hours, not months.

How testosterone production is controlled
The body runs testosterone on a feedback loop. Hypothalamic neurons release kisspeptin, which acts on the neurons that make gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). GnRH, released in pulses, tells the pituitary to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). LH drives testosterone production in the testes; FSH supports sperm production. When testosterone rises, the hypothalamus and pituitary sense it and turn LH and FSH down.
That loop explains the whole comparison. Testosterone replacement supplies the end product, so the loop turns your own production down. Kisspeptin sits at the very top and prompts the body's own axis. The growth-hormone peptides act on a different set of pituitary cells entirely.
The clearest evidence that kisspeptin matters is genetic: in 2003, two groups reported in the New England Journal of Medicine and in PNAS that people born with a non-functioning kisspeptin receptor do not go through puberty and have low LH, FSH and sex hormones.

What research has looked at: kisspeptin and testosterone
The human studies
Study Who Form and route What was reported Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2005 Healthy men Kisspeptin-54, intravenous LH, FSH and testosterone rose dose-dependently Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2011 Healthy men Kisspeptin-10, single bolus or short infusion LH rose, LH pulses became more frequent, testosterone rose Clinical Endocrinology, 2013 Men with type 2 diabetes and mild biochemical hypogonadism Kisspeptin-10, intravenous LH and testosterone stimulated JAMA Network Open, 2023 Men with low sexual desire Kisspeptin-54, single infusion Greater brain activation to sexual stimuli and a measurable increase in penile tumescence compared with placebo Hormone changes appeared within the hour. These were mechanistic studies over hours, not treatment trials over months, and every hormone study used the intravenous route. The 2023 trial measured brain and physiological response in a single session, not testosterone over time.
Why the schedule matters
Kisspeptin behaves differently depending on how continuously the receptor is exposed. Animal work reviewed by the FDA describes continuous high-dose exposure producing an initial LH surge and then a return to baseline despite the infusion continuing, while intermittent exposure produced repeatable LH pulses. Studies in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea showed the same: twice-daily injections stimulated the axis and then the response faded (2009), while twice-weekly injections sustained it over eight weeks (2010). This fading, called tachyphylaxis, is why a kisspeptin schedule is built around gaps, and why a daily-for-months assumption cannot be carried over from a single-dose study.
What the FDA concluded
On 29 October 2024 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed kisspeptin-10 for the nominated use of treating secondary hypogonadism in men. The FDA's briefing document concluded the studies were too small and exploratory, with different routes and frequencies, to support a conclusion on effectiveness, and cited incomplete characterization of impurities, immunogenicity potential by injection, and no studies of those routes in men with hypogonadism. The committee voted 0 in favor and 11 against. The FDA also found no evidence for the nominated use of preserving fertility during testosterone therapy.
What the kisspeptin evidence does not establish
- That a subcutaneous kisspeptin-10 course raises testosterone or LH in a sustained way. The hormone studies were acute and intravenous, and the response is regimen-dependent.
- That it treats low testosterone. It has not been shown to correct hypogonadism in a trial.
- Any benefit in men on testosterone therapy, which suppresses the very system kisspeptin acts on.
- Safety of repeated subcutaneous injections over months.
- Efficacy for any condition as an approved treatment. It is not approved for anything.

The peptides that do not raise testosterone
Growth-hormone-axis peptides
Sermorelin, CJC-1295 and tesamorelin are versions of growth-hormone-releasing hormone, and ipamorelin mimics ghrelin. All of them prompt the pituitary to release your own growth hormone, which works largely through IGF-1. They do not raise testosterone and should not be sold as a testosterone booster. If anything the relationship runs the other way: a 2018 study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism in 74 healthy older men reported that estradiol, made partly from testosterone, raised overnight growth hormone secretion by 60% to 70%. The distinction from growth hormone itself is in peptides vs HGH.
PT-141
PT-141 (bremelanotide) acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain and is described around desire. It does not raise testosterone or estrogen. Its human trials are in premenopausal women with low desire; in men, the evidence is two 2004 early-phase studies of erectile response. If low desire is the real question, kisspeptin vs PT-141 compares the two and peptides for libido covers what to rule out first.
Repair peptides
BPC-157 and TB-500 are studied around tissue repair and do not act on any hormone axis. BPC-157 is not described as moving haematocrit, PSA, estradiol or testosterone.

What low testosterone actually means
Testosterone replacement is a treatment for a diagnosis, hypogonadism, and the threshold is deliberately strict. The approved labels direct confirming it with serum testosterone measured in the morning on at least two separate days, both below the normal range. The European Male Ageing Study of 3,369 men aged 40 to 79 found that only three symptoms, poor morning erections, low desire and erectile dysfunction, were tied to low testosterone as a syndrome (New England Journal of Medicine, 2010). The Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging found about 20 percent of men over 60 had total testosterone in the hypogonadal range (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2001). Most men over 40 are not hypogonadal.
Sleep apnea, weight, alcohol and medications can all lower testosterone, so a single low draw in someone who snores and wakes unrefreshed is not yet a diagnosis. That is a conversation about why it is low rather than a case for a substitute. Peptides for men over 40 covers what to rule out first. If testosterone is low on two morning draws with symptoms, the treatment is testosterone under its own monitoring, from your own physician; no peptide corrects it.
Testosterone and women
Women make testosterone too, and searches for "peptides for testosterone" sometimes come from women. In women, kisspeptin drives LH and FSH, which drive estrogen production and ovulation; the live research does not describe kisspeptin as a testosterone treatment for women, and Pepti does not prescribe testosterone to anyone. Kisspeptin is not used in pregnancy or breastfeeding. What research has looked at in women is in kisspeptin for women, and the wider picture is in peptides for women and peptides for menopause.

Fertility
Exogenous testosterone suppresses sperm production, and the approved label says so directly: with large doses of external androgens, spermatogenesis may be suppressed through feedback inhibition of pituitary FSH. Kisspeptin is the one peptide with a reproductive-endocrinology literature, but it is not prescribed by Pepti as a fertility treatment, has not been shown to protect or restore fertility, and the FDA found no evidence for preserving fertility during testosterone therapy. hCG and gonadorelin, which often come up alongside kisspeptin, are not Pepti products. If conception is a goal in any timeframe you can name, that belongs with your physician before anything else; see do peptides affect fertility.

If you are already on testosterone
Kisspeptin is not a sensible addition: external testosterone suppresses the hypothalamus and pituitary, the system kisspeptin acts on, and no trial has tested the combination. Growth-hormone-axis peptides are commonly used alongside testosterone, for sleep and recovery, on the condition that each prescriber knows about the other, because the two treatments move overlapping markers such as IGF-1, glucose and lipids. Your testosterone and its monitoring stay with the physician who prescribes it. Can you take peptides with testosterone covers the detail.

Legal status and sport
Testosterone and anabolic steroids are Schedule III controlled substances under federal law. The peptides on this page are prescription-only compounded medications but are not controlled substances, and compounded medications are not FDA approved.
Kisspeptin-10 was placed in Category 2 of the FDA's interim 503A bulks list on 29 September 2023 and remains there on the list updated 14 May 2026. Category 2 is an interim policy position, not a ban, and no final rule has been issued.
On the 2026 WADA Prohibited List, kisspeptin and its agonists are named under S2.2.1 as testosterone-stimulating peptides in males, and the growth hormone releasing factors and secretagogues, including sermorelin, CJC-1295, tesamorelin and ipamorelin, are prohibited at all times, alongside testosterone and anabolic steroids. Switching from testosterone to a peptide does not make a tested athlete compliant.

Side effects of kisspeptin
| What is reported | When | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Injection-site redness or soreness | Any time | Rotate sites |
| Brief flushing, headache | Early, occasionally | Usually settles; report it if it does not |
| Occasional nausea | Any time | Report it |
| A reaction that is severe, spreading, or involves difficulty breathing | Rare | Call 911, then tell your physician |
Across the human studies, kisspeptin-54 is described as well tolerated, and the FDA's review notes acute intravenous kisspeptin-10 has not raised major safety concerns. Those studies used a different form, route or a single dose. Because kisspeptin stimulates sex-hormone production, a hormone-sensitive condition, including a history of hormone-sensitive cancer, must be raised with the physician first.

How Pepti supplies kisspeptin
| Product | What is in it | Typical directions | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kisspeptin | 5 mL multi-dose vial, kisspeptin-10 2 mg/mL (10 mg per vial) | 0.25 mL (25 units) subcutaneously once daily Monday through Friday | $229/mo |
| EUPHORIA | 10 mg MOTS-c, 10 mg BPC-157, 50 mg GHK-Cu and 2 mg kisspeptin in 5 mL | 0.25 mL (25 units) subcutaneously once daily Monday through Friday | $279/mo |
On the kisspeptin vial, 0.25 mL at 2 mg/mL is 0.5 mg per dose (math only), 20 doses per vial, about four weeks, which is why refills run every 28 days, one vial per fill. The two days off each week are deliberate, given the fading response with continuous exposure. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your intake, and they are printed on the vial.
Every price is all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Pepti is cash-pay and does not bill insurance. Vials arrive ready to use with sterile syringes and alcohol prep pads, shipped refrigerated with ice packs. Lot test results are at /quality/lab-results.

Common questions
Peptides for Testosterone, answered.
Kisspeptin is the only peptide with human research on it: single intravenous doses raised LH and testosterone within hours in men. No trial has shown a subcutaneous course raises testosterone over weeks or treats low testosterone.
In healthy men, single intravenous doses of kisspeptin-54 and kisspeptin-10 raised LH and testosterone acutely. Continuous exposure blunts the response, and the FDA's 2024 review found the evidence too small and exploratory to support it for low testosterone.
No. They act on growth hormone release, a different system. They are not a testosterone booster and cannot replace testosterone.
No. PT-141 acts on melanocortin receptors in the brain and does not raise testosterone or estrogen. It is prescribed around desire.
No. If testosterone is low on two morning draws with symptoms, a peptide will not correct it. Testosterone replacement belongs with your own physician, who manages its monitoring.
No. Pepti prescribes peptides only and does not prescribe or dispense testosterone or anabolic steroids.
It is not a sensible addition. External testosterone suppresses the system kisspeptin acts on, and no trial has tested the combination. Tell your physician if you are on testosterone.
Do not assume so. The FDA found no evidence for that nominated use, and kisspeptin is not prescribed by Pepti as a fertility treatment. Raise conception plans with your physician first.
Growth-hormone-axis peptides act on a separate axis and are not described as suppressing testosterone. Kisspeptin stimulates the axis rather than suppressing it. External testosterone and anabolic steroids are what suppress your own production.
Kisspeptin is legal with a valid prescription as a compounded medication. Kisspeptin-10 sits in Category 2 of the FDA's interim 503A list, a policy position rather than a ban. Peptides are not controlled substances; testosterone and anabolic steroids are Schedule III.
Yes for men: the 2026 WADA Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonists as testosterone-stimulating peptides in males. Check your sport's current rules before starting anything.
At Pepti, kisspeptin is $229 a month and the EUPHORIA blend is $279 a month, all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping. The free assessment goes to a physician licensed in your state. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
