Can You Drink Alcohol on SYNAPSE Blend? What Is Known and What Is Not
This page covers what the research does and does not say, why there is no interaction list, the practical points that do apply, what alcohol does on its own during treatment, and what to tell your physician. SYNAPSE is a compounded prescription injection, and compounded medications are not FDA approved.

No study has tested SYNAPSE and alcohol together, and no interaction with alcohol has been described for any of its four components, Semax, Selank, MOTS-c or tesamorelin, but that is a gap in the research rather than a finding of safety. The only piece of the live research that puts a SYNAPSE component and alcohol in the same experiment is a 2019 rat study in which Selank was given to animals exposed to chronic ethanol; it was not a study of drinking on treatment and does not make SYNAPSE a hangover remedy. The practical points are Selank's described action on the GABA-A receptor family that sedatives use, tesamorelin's effect on blood sugar, and alcohol's effect on sleep and focus, which are what SYNAPSE is prescribed around. Regular drinking belongs on your intake.

Can You Drink Alcohol on SYNAPSE Blend? What Is Known and What Is Not
The short answer
| Question | What the live research shows |
|---|---|
| Is there a known interaction between SYNAPSE and alcohol? | None described for the blend or any component; no human study has looked |
| Has SYNAPSE been studied in people who drink? | No. SYNAPSE has never been studied as a blend at all |
| What is the alcohol research people find? | A 2019 rat study of Selank in chronic ethanol exposure and withdrawal |
| Does that make SYNAPSE a hangover remedy or an alcohol treatment? | No; nothing in people supports either |
| Which component matters most with alcohol? | Selank, because it is described modulating GABA-A receptors, and alcohol is a sedative |
| What about blood sugar? | Tesamorelin can raise blood sugar; drinking is a separate thing to put on the intake if you have diabetes or take glucose-lowering medication |
| Does alcohol matter while you are on it? | Yes, for its own reasons: sleep, mood, focus, and judging how a new treatment is going |
| Who should talk to their physician first? | Daily or heavy drinkers, anyone on a benzodiazepine, sleeping pill or other sedative, and anyone with diabetes or liver disease |
The medication this page covers:
| Product | What is in it | Typical directions | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| SYNAPSE Blend | 5 mL: Semax 1 mg/mL, Selank 1 mg/mL, MOTS-c 2 mg/mL, tesamorelin 2 mg/mL (5 mg / 5 mg / 10 mg / 10 mg per vial) | 0.25 mL (25 units) subcutaneously once daily Monday through Friday | $279/mo |
At 0.25 mL, each dose is 0.25 mg Semax, 0.25 mg Selank, 0.5 mg MOTS-c and 0.5 mg tesamorelin, arithmetic from the vial strengths. The price is all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your intake, and they are printed on the vial.

What the alcohol research actually tested
The 2019 rat study of Selank
A 2019 paper in the Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine is the only piece of the live research that puts a SYNAPSE component and alcohol in the same experiment. Rats were exposed to chronic ethanol, and Selank was given to some of them. The authors reported that Selank prevented the ethanol-related shift in brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in the hippocampus and frontal cortex, and prevented the memory and attention disturbances that otherwise developed during alcohol withdrawal, on an object-recognition test.
In that experiment, alcohol was a tool to produce a measurable memory problem in animals. It does not show that Selank, or SYNAPSE, protects a person's memory or brain from drinking. It does not describe a hangover effect or any change in how alcohol is absorbed, cleared or felt. It is not a trial in people, and Pepti does not prescribe SYNAPSE for alcohol use disorder or withdrawal. More in Selank and alcohol.
The other three components
| Component | Alcohol research in the live pages | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| Semax | None; no interaction described | Not studied either way |
| Selank | The 2019 rat withdrawal study only | Not a study of drinking on treatment |
| MOTS-c | None; no human trials of any kind | Not studied either way |
| Tesamorelin | None on alcohol; its label notes growth hormone can alter the metabolism of drugs cleared by cytochrome P450 enzymes | Not an alcohol finding; a reason the intake asks for everything you take |
So the honest reading is narrow: nothing has been studied in people, for the blend or any part of it.

Why the Selank part is the one to take seriously
The mechanism most often cited for Selank is at the GABA-A receptor, the receptor family benzodiazepines act on. Cell-membrane work describes Selank altering how GABA itself binds, in the manner of a positive allosteric modulator, rather than switching the receptor on directly. Alcohol is a sedative, and sedatives that act on the same receptor system are the combinations physicians are most careful with.
Nobody has studied how Selank and alcohol behave together, so nobody can say whether they add up, cancel out or do nothing to each other. The Russian trials reported that Selank was not sedating, with no memory impairment or dependence signal, but those patients were not drinking, and they used an intranasal product, not an injection. The cautious answer is to keep drinking modest, tell your physician what you actually drink, and never treat the absence of data as permission.
| What is known | What is not known |
|---|---|
| Selank is described as modulating GABA-A receptors in cell-membrane work | Whether that changes how alcohol affects you |
| The Russian trials reported no sedation or memory impairment on Selank | Whether that holds after a drink |
| One supervised trial combined Selank with the benzodiazepine phenazepam | How Selank behaves with any other sedative, alcohol included |
| No interaction has been described for any SYNAPSE component | Whether one exists, because no one has looked |

Blood sugar: the tesamorelin point
Growth hormone reduces insulin sensitivity, and the approved tesamorelin product's label records new-onset diabetes in 5% of treated patients against 1% on placebo, at 2 mg daily, four times the SYNAPSE dose. MOTS-c is described in mice improving insulin sensitivity. Nobody has measured what alcohol adds to that. If you have diabetes or prediabetes, or take insulin, a sulfonylurea or a GLP-1, your physician needs to know both your glucose history and your drinking. Know the signs of low blood sugar, shakiness, sweating or confusion, and report thirst or frequent urination. More in SYNAPSE blend side effects.

What alcohol does on its own while you are on SYNAPSE
These points are about alcohol, not about SYNAPSE, and they apply whether or not a vial is in your fridge.
| What alcohol does | Why it matters during treatment |
|---|---|
| Is a sedative | Selank's described mechanism sits in the same receptor family, and the pairing is unstudied |
| Degrades sleep, especially when taken in the evening | Tesamorelin is described as amplifying the growth hormone pulse of early sleep, and poor sleep makes focus and stress harder to judge |
| Shifts mood and focus the next day for many people | It becomes hard to tell whether a change is the peptide, the drink or the week |
| Loosens judgement | Not a good state for drawing up a measured dose |
Judging how a new treatment is going
SYNAPSE is prescribed around focus, stress and energy, and those are exactly the signals drinking clouds. If you want to know whether SYNAPSE is doing anything for you, the first weeks are the time to keep everything else, alcohol included, as steady as possible and to keep a simple daily log. More in how long does SYNAPSE blend take to work.
Dosing and drinking on the same day
SYNAPSE is taken once daily, Monday through Friday, at the time your directions say. There is nothing to time around a drink. Do not skip, double or move a dose because you plan to drink. If you are unsure, message your care team.

When alcohol is the bigger clinical question
Some people come to a focus or stress product because drinking has become their way of managing stress, or because poor focus is partly the morning after. That is worth saying plainly to your physician, because it changes the conversation. SYNAPSE is not a treatment for alcohol use disorder and is not a substitute for care that is. If you drink heavily every day, do not stop suddenly on your own: alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous and needs medical supervision. Wider options for stress and mood are in peptides for anxiety and mood.

What a physician needs to know
| Tell them | Why |
|---|---|
| How much and how often you drink, honestly | It is the only way the absence of interaction data can be weighed against your situation |
| Any benzodiazepine, sleeping pill, opioid or other sedative | These are the combinations with the most at stake alongside Selank |
| Any SSRI, SNRI, stimulant or antipsychotic | No SYNAPSE component has been studied with them |
| Diabetes, prediabetes or glucose-lowering medication, including a GLP-1 | Tesamorelin can raise blood sugar |
| Any liver disease | Relevant to alcohol, and part of a full history |
| Whether you have ever had withdrawal symptoms | Changes the safety plan |
If you also take a GLP-1, alcohol has its own considerations there, covered in can you drink alcohol on semaglutide and can you take SYNAPSE blend with tirzepatide.

Where SYNAPSE stands with the FDA
Tesamorelin is the active ingredient of an FDA-approved product, but compounded tesamorelin is not that product. In July 2026 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted to recommend adding Semax and MOTS-c to the 503A Bulks List, with the FDA's final determinations pending. Selank's nomination was withdrawn and it has never been reviewed. SYNAPSE is not an FDA-approved drug; compounded medications are not FDA approved.

Common questions
Can You Drink Alcohol on SYNAPSE Blend? What Is Known and What Is Not, answered.
No study has tested it and no interaction has been described for any of its four components, so there is no known reason a modest drink is off limits. But its Selank is described acting on the same GABA-A receptor family sedatives use, and the combination is unstudied. Keep drinking modest and tell your physician what you actually drink.
No interaction has been described, because no one has studied the pair in people. "Not described" is not the same as "shown to be safe."
No. The only alcohol research is a 2019 rat study of Selank that used chronic ethanol and withdrawal to create a memory problem in animals. It did not test hangovers or drinking in people.
It is not prescribed for that. If you drink heavily every day, do not stop suddenly on your own; alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous and needs medical supervision.
Nobody knows, because it has not been studied. The Selank trials reported it was not sedating, but those patients were not drinking.
Do not skip, double or move doses on your own. Follow the directions printed on your vial, and message your care team if you are unsure.
There is no data either way. Alcohol disrupts sleep, mood and focus on its own, which makes the subtle signals SYNAPSE is prescribed around harder to judge.
Tesamorelin in SYNAPSE can raise blood sugar, and no one has studied what alcohol adds. If you have diabetes or take glucose-lowering medication, put both your glucose history and your drinking on the intake.
Each has its own considerations. The GLP-1 alcohol points are in the semaglutide alcohol guide, and SYNAPSE with a GLP-1 is covered in its own guide. Tell your physician everything you take.
At Pepti, SYNAPSE is $279 a month, all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. The free assessment goes to a physician licensed in your state. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
