Kisspeptin for Men: Testosterone, Desire Research, TRT, Fertility and Sport

This page covers what kisspeptin is, what research has looked at in men and what it has not, the questions that come up most for men (testosterone, desire, erections, testosterone therapy, fertility and sport), side effects, FDA status, and how Pepti supplies it. If testosterone is your main question, peptides for testosterone goes deeper on that alone; the full product reference is what is kisspeptin.

Kisspeptin$229/mo

Most of the human hormone research on kisspeptin was done in men: in short studies, intravenous kisspeptin-54 (2005) and kisspeptin-10 (2011) raised LH and testosterone within hours in healthy men, kisspeptin-10 did the same in men with type 2 diabetes and mild biochemical hypogonadism (2013), and a 2023 randomized trial in men with low sexual desire reported greater brain activation to sexual stimuli and a measurable increase in penile tumescence during a single kisspeptin-54 infusion. No trial has tested a weekday course of subcutaneous kisspeptin-10, the form Pepti supplies, in men, and the response fades with continuous exposure. Kisspeptin is not used alongside testosterone therapy and is not a fertility treatment. For tested athletes it is a hard stop: the 2026 WADA Prohibited List names kisspeptin as a testosterone-stimulating peptide prohibited in males at all times. Compounded kisspeptin is not FDA approved.

Kisspeptin for Men

The short answer

Question What the live research shows Form and route
Does kisspeptin raise testosterone in men? Acute rise in LH, FSH and testosterone in healthy men (JCEM, 2005) Kisspeptin-54, intravenous, hours
Does kisspeptin-10 work in men? LH rose, LH pulses became more frequent, testosterone rose (JCEM, 2011) Kisspeptin-10, single bolus or short infusion
Men with mild biochemical hypogonadism LH and testosterone stimulated in men with type 2 diabetes (Clinical Endocrinology, 2013) Kisspeptin-10, intravenous
Low sexual desire in men Greater brain activation and increased penile tumescence versus placebo (JAMA Network Open, 2023) Kisspeptin-54, single infusion
A weekday course of subcutaneous kisspeptin-10 Not trialled in men or women None
Alongside testosterone therapy Not used; external testosterone suppresses the system kisspeptin acts on No trial
Tested sport Prohibited in males at all times, S2.2.1 Settled

The honest summary: the physiology is well mapped in men, the product as it is prescribed has not been tested in them, and the FDA's 2024 review found the evidence insufficient for low testosterone.

Kisspeptin for Men

What kisspeptin is, in one paragraph

Kisspeptin is a family of peptides encoded by the KISS1 gene. Hypothalamic neurons release it, and it acts on the neurons that make gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). GnRH, released in pulses, tells the pituitary to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). In men, LH drives testosterone production in the testes and FSH supports sperm production. When testosterone rises, the hypothalamus and pituitary sense it and turn LH and FSH down. Kisspeptin is not testosterone, not an anabolic agent and not a sex hormone; it adds no hormone from outside and does not act on the testes directly. Its role was shown in 2003, when two groups reported in the New England Journal of Medicine and PNAS that people born with a non-functioning kisspeptin receptor do not go through puberty. The product at Pepti is kisspeptin-10, the shortest active fragment.

What research has looked at in men

  • The hormone studies

Study Who What was given What was reported
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2005 Healthy men Kisspeptin-54, intravenous LH, FSH and testosterone rose dose-dependently
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2011 Healthy men Kisspeptin-10, single bolus or short infusion LH rose, LH pulses became more frequent, testosterone rose
Clinical Endocrinology, 2013 Men with type 2 diabetes and mild biochemical hypogonadism Kisspeptin-10, intravenous LH and testosterone stimulated

What it shows. That kisspeptin prompts a man's own axis: hormone changes appeared within the hour, and kisspeptin-10, the form in the Pepti vial, is active on its own.

What it does not show. These were mechanistic studies measured over hours, not treatment trials over months, and every one used the intravenous route. None measured symptoms, energy, body composition or anything a man would notice. A 2011 study in the same journal also reported that kisspeptin's effect differs between men and women, so findings do not transfer freely between the sexes in either direction.

  • Brain imaging

A 2017 paper in the Journal of Clinical Investigation used functional MRI in healthy men during a kisspeptin-54 infusion and reported greater activation of limbic structures in response to sexual and couple-bonding images, alongside reduced negative mood. A 2018 follow-up in JCI Insight reported changes in resting brain connectivity. This is a direct action on the brain, separate from the hormone changes. It was small, single-session and intravenous, and it is not evidence that kisspeptin treats any mood condition.

  • Desire: the 2023 trial in men

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial in JAMA Network Open in 2023 enrolled men with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). A single kisspeptin-54 infusion produced greater activation of key brain structures during sexual stimuli and a measurable increase in penile tumescence in response to sexual videos, compared with placebo, with no serious adverse events attributed to kisspeptin. It is a real randomized trial. It also measured one session in a scanner, with a different form by a different route, not months of desire in daily life.

  • Why the schedule matters

Kisspeptin behaves differently depending on how continuously the receptor is exposed. Animal work reviewed by the FDA describes continuous high-dose exposure producing an initial LH surge and then a return to baseline despite the infusion continuing, while intermittent exposure produced repeatable LH pulses. Studies in women with hypothalamic amenorrhea showed the same in people. This fading, called tachyphylaxis, is why a kisspeptin schedule has gaps built in, and why "more often" is not "more effect."

  • What the FDA concluded about men

On 29 October 2024 the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee reviewed kisspeptin-10 for the nominated use of treating secondary hypogonadism in men. The FDA's briefing concluded the studies were too small and exploratory, with different routes and frequencies, to support a conclusion on effectiveness, and cited incomplete characterization of impurities, immunogenicity potential by injection and no studies of those routes in men with hypogonadism. The committee voted 0 in favor and 11 against. The FDA also found no evidence for the nominated use of preserving fertility during testosterone therapy.

Kisspeptin for Men

What the evidence does not establish

  • That a subcutaneous kisspeptin-10 course raises testosterone or LH in a sustained way.
  • That it treats low testosterone, or substitutes for testosterone therapy.
  • An effect on desire, erections or sexual function in daily life.
  • Any benefit in men already on testosterone, which suppresses the system kisspeptin acts on.
  • That it protects or restores fertility.
  • Safety of repeated subcutaneous kisspeptin-10 injections over months, the gap the FDA has flagged.
  • An effect size or a timeline for any goal.

Kisspeptin for Men

What changes for men

  • Low testosterone

Testosterone replacement treats a diagnosis, hypogonadism, and the threshold is strict: the approved labels direct confirming low testosterone on at least two separate morning measurements. Most men over 40 are not hypogonadal. Sleep apnea, weight, alcohol and medications can all lower testosterone, so the first question is why it is low. If it is genuinely low with symptoms, the treatment is testosterone under its own monitoring, from your own physician; kisspeptin has not been shown to correct it, and Pepti does not prescribe or sell testosterone. Peptides for men over 40 covers what to look at first.

  • If you are on testosterone therapy

Kisspeptin is not used alongside it. External testosterone suppresses the hypothalamus and pituitary, which is exactly the system kisspeptin acts on, and no trial has tested the combination. Tell your physician if you are on testosterone, and keep your testosterone and its monitoring with the physician who prescribes it. More in can you take peptides with testosterone and peptides vs TRT and steroids.

  • Desire versus erections

Kisspeptin is not a treatment for erectile dysfunction. Its desire research is about central drive, measured in a scanner. If the problem is erection rather than desire, that has its own causes and established treatments, and a physician will want to look at them first. PT-141, the other desire peptide, acts on melanocortin receptors and has two early-phase 2004 studies of erectile response in men; it does not raise testosterone. The side-by-side is in kisspeptin vs PT-141, and what to rule out first is in peptides for libido.

  • Fertility

Kisspeptin has a reproductive-endocrinology literature, which is why men ask about it for fertility. But the IVF trigger work was in women, used kisspeptin-54 under fertility-clinic monitoring, and does not apply to sperm. Kisspeptin is not prescribed by Pepti as a fertility treatment, has not been shown to protect or restore male fertility, and the FDA found no evidence for preserving fertility during testosterone therapy. If you are trying to conceive with a partner, raise it with your physician before starting anything; see do peptides affect fertility.

  • Hormone-sensitive conditions

Because kisspeptin stimulates sex-hormone production, a hormone-sensitive condition, including any history of hormone-sensitive cancer, must be raised with your physician before starting kisspeptin or the EUPHORIA blend that contains it.

  • Tested sport

The 2026 WADA Prohibited List names kisspeptin and its agonist analogues under S2.2.1, testosterone-stimulating peptides in males, prohibited at all times, in and out of competition. Kisspeptin is named in the List itself, alongside chorionic gonadotrophin, luteinizing hormone and GnRH agonists, and the 2027 List keeps it there. Detection is published: kisspeptin-10 in urine by liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry appeared in Biomedical Chromatography in 2024. A prescription does not change the answer, and switching from testosterone to a peptide does not make a tested athlete compliant. If you are in any testing pool, tell your physician; kisspeptin is not prescribed into that situation. See do peptides show up on a drug test.

Side effects

What is reported When What to do
Injection-site redness or soreness Any time; the most common report Rotate sites between abdomen and thigh
Brief flushing, headache Around a dose, mostly early Usually passes; message your care team if it persists
Occasional nausea Any time Message your care team if it affects eating
Nothing at all Common Normal, and not a sign the medication is failing
Facial or throat swelling, widespread hives, trouble breathing Rare Call 911 first, then tell your care team
You think you injected far more than your directions Not expected Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 and message your care team

Across the human studies, kisspeptin-54 is described as well tolerated, and the FDA's review notes that acute intravenous kisspeptin-10 "has not raised any major safety concerns in studies to date." Those studies used a different form, a different route or a single dose. No withdrawal or rebound is described, because kisspeptin prompts the body's own axis rather than suppressing it. Nothing in the published research suggests the profile differs between men and women. More in kisspeptin side effects.

Where kisspeptin stands with the FDA

Kisspeptin-10 was placed in Category 2 of the FDA's interim 503A bulk drug substances list on 29 September 2023, the category for nominated substances the FDA considers to raise significant safety risks, citing immunogenicity potential with injected use, incomplete characterization of impurities and limited subcutaneous safety data. After the October 2024 advisory committee vote, it was not among the peptides moved out of Category 2 in April 2026 and remains there on the list updated 14 May 2026. Category 2 is an interim policy position, not a ban on the molecule, and no final rule has been issued. Kisspeptin is not a controlled substance; testosterone and anabolic steroids are Schedule III. Compounded kisspeptin is not FDA approved.

How Pepti supplies kisspeptin

Product What is in it Typical directions Price
Kisspeptin 5 mL multi-dose vial, kisspeptin-10 2 mg/mL (10 mg per vial) 0.25 mL (25 units) subcutaneously once daily Monday through Friday $229/mo
EUPHORIA 10 mg MOTS-c, 10 mg BPC-157, 50 mg GHK-Cu and 2 mg kisspeptin in 5 mL 0.25 mL (25 units) subcutaneously once daily Monday through Friday $279/mo

On the kisspeptin vial, 0.25 mL at 2 mg/mL is 0.5 mg per dose (math only, on a U-100 syringe), 20 doses per vial, about four weeks, which is why refills run every 28 days, one vial per fill. The two days off each week are deliberate, given the fading response with continuous exposure. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your intake, and they are printed on the vial. EUPHORIA is also prohibited for tested athletes, for three reasons: kisspeptin, MOTS-c (S4.4.1) and BPC-157 (S0).

Every price is all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Pepti is cash-pay and does not bill insurance. Kisspeptin-10 is a short peptide sensitive to heat and light; vials ship refrigerated with ice packs, ready to use, with sterile syringes and alcohol prep pads. Lot test results are at /quality/lab-results. The dose math is in kisspeptin dosage.

Where to get kisspeptin prescribed

Kisspeptin cannot be bought legitimately without a prescription. Sites selling it "for research use only" are not accountable for identity, purity, sterility or concentration, the quality question the FDA has raised. The prescription route:

  1. Complete a free online intake covering your history, medications, any testosterone therapy, fertility plans, any hormone-sensitive condition, and whether you are drug tested.
  2. A physician licensed in your state reviews it, usually within 24 hours.
  3. If it is appropriate, a PCAB-accredited, FDA-registered US 503A compounding pharmacy prepares it to that prescription.
  4. It ships refrigerated with your directions printed on the vial.
  5. Your care team stays reachable for questions and side effects.

Step by step: how to get kisspeptin prescribed online. Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account. What research has looked at in women is in kisspeptin for women.
