Do You Need a Prescription for Dihexa? Is It Legal to Buy Online?

This page answers the legal question. For the step-by-step ordering process, see how to get Dihexa; for choosing a provider, see the best place to get Dihexa online; for the science, see what Dihexa is.

Dihexa (Injectable)
Dihexa$219/mo

Treatments mentioned

Yes. Injectable Dihexa is a prescription-only compounded medication, and the legal way to get it online is through a provider where a physician licensed in your state prescribes it and a licensed US 503A compounding pharmacy prepares it for you by name. Dihexa sold without a prescription is a "research use only" chemical, which the seller labels as not for human use. Dihexa acetate was moved out of the FDA's Category 2 in April 2026 and is due before an FDA advisory committee by the end of February 2027; it is not FDA approved for anything, and the FDA has said it has not identified any human exposure data for it. At Pepti, Dihexa is $219 a month, all-in, after a free online assessment.

Why Dihexa requires a prescription

  • An injectable drug needs approval or a prescription

Under US law a product intended to affect the body is a drug. The Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act defines a prescription drug partly by "the method of its use," and an injectable meets that test. A drug for human use needs either FDA approval as a finished product or compounding by a licensed pharmacy against a valid prescription. Dihexa has no approval anywhere, so the prescription route is the only lawful one.

  • Section 503A works patient by patient

Section 503A lets a state-licensed pharmacy compound a drug that is not FDA approved only when it is made "for an identified individual patient based on the receipt of a valid prescription order." The pharmacy is exempt from new-drug approval, but not from state law, licensure, sterile-compounding standards or the prescription itself. Can you buy peptides without a prescription explains the statute in detail.

  • Why a physician matters more for Dihexa than for most

Dihexa has a thinner evidence base than most compounds Pepti prescribes. Pepti's reference page states plainly that there are no human trials of any kind, that its proposed growth-factor mechanism (HGF and its receptor c-Met) is a proliferation pathway active in many cancers, and that the two laboratory papers supporting that mechanism were retracted in April 2025. That makes the intake questions real ones: a personal or strong family history of cancer is something a physician needs to know, and many will decline on that basis. New or worsening memory problems also need evaluation for treatable causes, such as thyroid, B12, sleep, mood or medication effects, before any peptide.

Where Dihexa stands with the FDA

Pepti's Dihexa reference page, verified in September 2026, sets out the sequence:

Date What happened
2023 Dihexa acetate was nominated for the 503A bulks list and placed in Category 2, with the FDA's stated concern being the complete absence of human exposure data
April 2026 The FDA moved it out of Category 2 as part of its revisions; the safety-risks page now lists it among substances whose nomination was withdrawn
14 May 2026 The current 503A category document does not list dihexa acetate in Category 1, 2 or 3
By end of February 2027 A Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee meeting is announced to consider it for the 503A bulks list, alongside LL-37, GHK-Cu, melanotan II and PEG-MGF

What "out of Category 2" does and does not mean

Leaving Category 2 removed the "significant safety risk" designation. It did not put Dihexa on the bulks list or make it an approved drug. An advisory committee vote, when it comes, is a recommendation; the FDA makes its own determination afterwards through rulemaking. Until then the accurate description is: no longer in Category 2, not yet on the positive list, scheduled for review. If that changes, availability can change with it. Are peptides legal in the US covers the wider framework, and are peptides FDA approved covers approval.

"Research use only" Dihexa

Dihexa is also sold online as a powder or capsule labelled "research use only" or "not for human consumption." Pepti's reference pages explain that label: it tracks a regulation exempting products sold for research "not involving clinical use," and a person taking the contents is the clinical use the regulation excludes.

Prescription Dihexa "Research use only" Dihexa
Prescriber A physician licensed in your state None
Screening for cancer history and other causes of memory complaints Yes, at intake None
Pharmacy Licensed US 503A pharmacy, named on the label Not a pharmacy
Form Sterile 5 mL solution at 1 mg/mL, ready to use Powder or capsules of unverified content
Directions Printed on the vial None, by design
Lot testing Certificates of analysis Whatever the seller posts
Someone to message about a reaction Your care team Nobody

For a compound with no human exposure data on record, the difference matters more, not less. If the stated content of a research product is wrong, there is no way to tell at home. Research peptides vs prescription peptides has the full comparison.

Is buying research Dihexa illegal?

Pepti's reference pages describe the legal problem as sitting mainly with the seller: misbranding attaches to the dispenser, and intended use to the seller's marketing. What the buyer gives up is every protection the prescription system provides: a prescriber, a licensed pharmacy, verified sterility and concentration, and recourse.

Tested athletes

Dihexa is not named on the 2026 WADA Prohibited List, but the S0 class prohibits at all times any pharmacological substance with no current approval by any governmental health authority for human therapeutic use, and Dihexa has no such approval. Is Dihexa banned in sports covers it. Check with your anti-doping body and tell your physician.

Start with the free assessment. A physician licensed in your state reviews it, usually within 24 hours. If they prescribe, the vial ships refrigerated with sterile syringes and alcohol prep pads, and refills run every 28 days, one vial per fill. Your own directions are set by your physician after reviewing your intake and printed on the vial. Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account.
