5-Amino-1MQ Side Effects: What Is Known, What Is Not, and What to Report
This page is a practical reference: what has been reported, where each report comes from, what is simply unknown, what to report and when, and who should not take 5-Amino-1MQ. The compound itself, its research and its FDA position are covered in what is 5-Amino-1MQ.

The side effects reported with 5-Amino-1MQ injections are mostly at the injection site: redness, mild soreness and occasional bruising. Beyond that, there is no reliable list, because 5-Amino-1MQ has never been through a human trial of any design and there is no human safety database. The mouse studies reported no observable adverse effects at the doses used, but they were not toxicology studies. There is no established interaction list; because its target enzyme, NNMT, also processes some foreign compounds, every medication and supplement you take belongs on your intake.

5-Amino-1MQ Side Effects
The short answer
| Side effect or question | What is known | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Injection-site redness, mild soreness, occasional bruising | The most common thing prescribers see | Rotate sites; report it if it spreads or does not settle |
| Anything else | No reliable frequency; there is no human trial | Report anything persistent or unexpected |
| Toxicity in the mouse studies | No observable adverse effects at the doses used (2018); liver enzymes normalised rather than rose (2024) | Reassuring in mice, not a human safety finding |
| Drug interactions | No established list; a theoretical reason for care | List every medication and supplement on your intake |
| Appetite change | Not expected; mouse food intake was unchanged | Report a marked change |
| Swelling of the face, lips or throat, widespread rash, trouble breathing | Possible with any injected medication | Call 911 or get emergency care first |
The medication this page covers:
| Product | What is in it | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 5-Amino-1MQ | 5 mL multi-dose vial, 5-Amino-1MQ 1 mg/mL (5 mg per vial) | $219/mo |
The price is all-in: medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Pepti supplies 5-Amino-1MQ as an injection only, compounded by a PCAB-accredited, FDA-registered US 503A pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA approved, and 5-Amino-1MQ is not an approved drug or a component of one.

Why the list is so short
Most medications have a side-effect table built from placebo-controlled trials: so many percent on the drug, so many on placebo. 5-Amino-1MQ has none. There are no randomised controlled trials of 5-Amino-1MQ in humans and no published human trials of any design, and as of September 2026 none are registered under its name. Its research is in cultured cells and mice, from the University of Texas Medical Branch group that developed it.
That has two consequences. First, there is no way to say how often anything happens, because nobody has counted. Second, a short list is not the same as a clean record. It means the record has not been written. Any longer list of 5-Amino-1MQ side effects you see elsewhere, with percentages or confident descriptions, is anecdote. It is also worth knowing that 5-Amino-1MQ is a small molecule, not a peptide (is 5-Amino-1MQ a peptide), so general statements about peptide side effects do not automatically apply to it either.

What prescribers see with the injection
What gets reported clinically is mostly at the injection site:
| Injection-site effect | What usually helps | When to report it |
|---|---|---|
| Redness | Rotate sites between the abdomen and thigh | If it spreads, is hot, or lasts more than a few days |
| Mild soreness | Rotate sites | If it worsens rather than settles |
| Occasional bruising | Rotate sites | If bruising is large or frequent |
Subcutaneous means into the fat layer, not the muscle, and the same spot should not be used repeatedly. Technique, including how to avoid most site reactions, is in how to inject peptides safely.

What the mouse studies reported
| Study | What it reported on safety | The limit |
|---|---|---|
| Biochemical Pharmacology, 2018 | No observable adverse effects at the doses used in diet-induced obese mice | Not designed as a toxicology study |
| Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, 2024 | Over 28 days of once-daily dosing, the liver enzymes ALT and AST and ketone bodies normalised in obese mice, rather than rising | Mice, and obese mice whose liver tests started abnormal |
| Biochemical Pharmacology, 2018 | Total food intake unchanged in treated mice | An appetite finding, relevant because it means no appetite effect is expected |
Those results are reassuring as far as they go. Mouse studies are not designed to find the uncommon or slow-developing effects that matter in people, and they did not look for them.

The theoretical interaction point
NNMT, the enzyme 5-Amino-1MQ blocks, attaches methyl groups to nicotinamide, the form of vitamin B3 that cells recycle into NAD+. It also methylates some foreign compounds. In principle, blocking it could change how some drugs are handled. Nothing is known about whether that matters in practice, and no study has tested it.
That is why the intake asks for every medication and supplement you take, including vitamins, and why a physician reviews it rather than a form. If you start anything new while on 5-Amino-1MQ, tell your care team.
| Situation | What is known |
|---|---|
| Other prescription medications | No established interaction list; theoretical reason for care |
| Supplements and vitamins, including B3 forms | No data; list them on your intake |
| Semaglutide or tirzepatide | Different mechanisms; some physicians prescribe them together; no human study of the combination |
| NAD+ injection | Different approaches to the same pathway; no study of the combination |
The combination with a GLP-1 medication is covered in what peptides can you take with tirzepatide.

What is not known
- How often any side effect happens in people.
- Whether anything changes with longer use. There is no human safety database of any size, and the longest relevant mouse study ran 28 days.
- Whether it interacts with any specific medication.
- Its effects in pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is not used in either.
- How it is absorbed and cleared in people. Human pharmacokinetics have not been published; the 2024 mouse work reported distribution to fat, muscle and liver after subcutaneous injection.
The FDA has not filled these gaps either. It has never published a safety-risk finding about 5-Amino-1MQ, it does not appear in Category 1, 2 or 3 of the FDA's nominated-substances list as updated 14 May 2026, and it has not been before the Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee. No finding against it is not the same as a finding for it; it has simply not been evaluated.

5-Amino-1MQ in the FUSION Blend
5-Amino-1MQ is also prescribed inside the FUSION Blend, $279/mo, a 5 mL vial with 10 mg BPC-157, 10 mg MOTS-c, 10 mg 5-Amino-1MQ and 15 mg tesamorelin. In a blend, the side effects are those of every ingredient in the vial, and FUSION's 25 unit draw carries 0.5 mg of 5-Amino-1MQ, twice the 0.25 mg from the standalone vial.
| Ingredient | What it adds to the side-effect picture |
|---|---|
| 5-Amino-1MQ | Mostly injection-site reactions; no human data |
| BPC-157 | Mostly local: redness, itching or a lump at the injection site |
| MOTS-c | Transient jitteriness, a faster pulse or mild light-headedness after a dose, mostly early in a course |
| Tesamorelin | Raises growth hormone and IGF-1; fluid retention, joint aches and hand tingling usually mean the dose is above what you need; reduces insulin sensitivity, so diabetes or borderline glucose needs discussing |
No study has tested the blend as a blend. More in what is FUSION.

When to message your care team
Message your care team, through your account, if:
- Injection-site redness, swelling or soreness spreads, gets worse, or does not settle within a few days.
- You notice anything persistent or unexpected after starting, even if it seems unrelated. With no human trial data, your report is part of how your physician judges what is happening.
- You start or stop any medication or supplement.
- You become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
- Your label and your syringe seem not to match. Do not inject; ask first.
Do not change your own dose in response to a side effect. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing how you are doing, and any new directions are printed on the next label. The dose arithmetic is in 5-Amino-1MQ dosage.

When to get emergency care
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for:
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
- Trouble breathing or swallowing.
- A widespread rash or hives with feeling faint.
- Any reaction that is severe or spreading quickly.
Get emergency care first, then tell your physician.

Who should not take 5-Amino-1MQ, or should discuss it first
| Situation | Status |
|---|---|
| Pregnancy or breastfeeding | Not used; safety data is absent |
| Taking several prescription medications | Needs discussion, because of the theoretical interaction point |
| Tested athletes | Check the current prohibited list for your sport, and tell your physician |
| Previous reaction to 5-Amino-1MQ or an ingredient of the vial | Rules it out |
| Under 18 | Pepti prescribes to adults only |
Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account. Athletes can read peptides for athletes and do peptides show up on a drug test.

What the evidence shows, honestly
The mouse work on 5-Amino-1MQ did not report toxicity, and in obese mice liver tests improved rather than worsened. Clinically, what prescribers see is mostly at the injection site. Those are the only two things that can be said with any confidence. There is no human safety database, no frequency for anything, no established interaction list and no long-term data. A short side-effect list for a compound with no human trials is a statement about what has not been studied. The same honesty applies to the benefits, which are covered in 5-Amino-1MQ benefits. The general guide to watching for reactions on any injection is peptide side effects: what to watch for.

Where to get 5-Amino-1MQ prescribed
5-Amino-1MQ cannot be bought legitimately without a prescription. Products sold "for research use only" have no accountable pharmacy behind their identity, purity, sterility or concentration, which adds unknowns to a compound that already has plenty. The prescription route:
- Complete a free online intake covering your history, medications and what you want help with.
- A physician licensed in your state reviews it, usually within 24 hours.
- If it is appropriate, a PCAB-accredited, FDA-registered US 503A compounding pharmacy prepares it to that prescription. Lot test results are published at /quality/lab-results.
- It ships refrigerated with ice packs, with sterile syringes and alcohol prep pads, and your directions printed on the vial.
- Your care team stays reachable for side effects and dose questions. Refills run every 28 days, one vial per fill.
Pepti is cash-pay and does not bill insurance. The step-by-step page is how to get 5-Amino-1MQ prescribed online.

Common questions
5-Amino-1MQ Side Effects, answered.
Mostly injection-site reactions: redness, mild soreness and occasional bruising. There is no human trial, so there is no reliable list or frequency beyond that. The mouse studies reported no observable adverse effects at the doses used.
There is no human safety database of any size, so its safety in people has not been established. The mouse studies did not report toxicity, and the FDA has never published a safety-risk finding about it, but it has not been evaluated either. Compounded medications are not FDA approved.
Those are not part of what has been reported for 5-Amino-1MQ itself; it is not a stimulant. MOTS-c, which is in the FUSION Blend, is associated with transient jitteriness or a faster pulse after a dose. Report anything persistent.
In obese mice treated for 28 days, liver enzymes and liver fat moved toward normal rather than worsening. There is no human data on the liver.
Nausea is not part of its reported profile, and in mice food intake was unchanged. It is not a GLP-1 medication. Report a marked change in appetite or persistent nausea.
There is no established interaction list. NNMT, the enzyme it blocks, also methylates some foreign compounds, which is a theoretical reason for care. List every medication and supplement on your intake.
They act through different mechanisms and some physicians prescribe them together. There is no human study of the combination, so there is no combined side-effect data. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your full medication list.
Nobody knows. Pepti supplies 5-Amino-1MQ as an injection only, and no human study has tested either form.
Swelling of the face, lips or throat, trouble breathing or swallowing, or a widespread rash with feeling faint. Call 911 or get emergency care first, then tell your physician.
There is no data on duration, because there is no human trial. A small lump right after injecting is the volume you just delivered and settles within the hour; redness or soreness that lasts more than a few days, or anything else that persists, should be reported.
No. Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account. The free assessment goes to a physician licensed in your state. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
