Is Selank Banned in Sports? WADA Status, Blends and Drug Tests
This page is general information, not legal advice. The List is revised every year and the duty to check sits with the athlete.

Treatments mentioned
Selank is not named on the 2026 World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List, but that is not the same as permitted: the List's S0 class covers pharmacological substances with no current approval by any governmental health authority for human therapeutic use, and Selank has never been approved by the FDA or by any regulator outside Russia and its neighbours. A tested athlete should ask their anti-doping body before starting. The blends are clearer: ELEVATE, SERENITY and SYNAPSE each contain at least one substance the List names, so each is prohibited. A standard workplace drug screen does not look for Selank.

What Selank is
Selank is a heptapeptide, seven amino acids: Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. The first four are tuftsin, a fragment of the immunoglobulin G molecule that the body produces naturally. The last three, Pro-Gly-Pro, were added to slow its breakdown. It was developed in Russia, at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the Zakusov Institute of Pharmacology, and is registered in Russia as a prescription medicine in an intranasal form. It has never been approved by the FDA or by any regulator outside Russia and its neighbours.
It is described around GABA modulation, enkephalins and anxiety. It is not a benzodiazepine: the Russian trials used medazepam and phenazepam as comparators because those are standard anxiolytics in that system, and the published work describes Selank as acting without the sedation, memory impairment and dependence associated with that class. More is in what is Selank.

What the List says, and the S0 question
The Prohibited List is published every year and comes into force on 1 January. The 2026 List does not name Selank, Semax, PE-22-28 or DSIP. It does name BPC-157 in S0, CJC-1295, tesamorelin and ipamorelin in S2.2.4, and MOTS-c in S4.4.1.
S0, non-approved substances, prohibits at all times "any pharmacological substance which is not addressed by any of the subsequent sections of the List and with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use." Pepti's overview for athletes puts Selank in the group that is not named individually, where S0 catches substances without human therapeutic approval, so a compounded preparation can fall under it. WADA's explanatory note to the 2027 List says that even if a peptide is not specifically named, "utmost caution should be taken as it may still be prohibited."
Selank's registration in Russia is a fact about its history; how S0 applies to a compounded Selank vial for your sport is for your anti-doping body to say, not a seller.

Blends containing Selank
A blend is prohibited by virtue of its components. Every Pepti blend that contains Selank also contains at least one named prohibited substance.
| Pepti product | What else is in it | Price | Tested-sport status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Selank | Nothing; 10 mg Selank in a 5 mL vial | $229/mo | Not named; ask your anti-doping body |
| ELEVATE Blend | Semax, BPC-157, KPV | $249/mo | Prohibited; BPC-157 is named in S0 |
| SERENITY Blend | DSIP, CJC-1295, ipamorelin | $279/mo | Prohibited; CJC-1295 and ipamorelin are named in S2.2.4 |
| SYNAPSE Blend | Semax, MOTS-c, tesamorelin | $279/mo | Prohibited; tesamorelin (S2.2.4) and MOTS-c (S4.4.1) are named |
Prices are all-in monthly figures covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Compounded medications are not FDA approved.

Why a prescription does not change the answer
Anti-doping rules decide what is permitted in competition, independently of what is legal or prescribed. Article 2.1.1 of the World Anti-Doping Code makes it each athlete's personal duty to ensure that no prohibited substance enters their body, and says intent, fault, negligence or knowing use need not be shown to establish a violation. That is strict liability. It applies to what is actually in the vial, which is why an unverified research-labelled product is a risk even for a substance that is not named.
If your anti-doping body tells you Selank is prohibited for you, a therapeutic use exemption granted in advance is the only route to permitted use. It requires a diagnosed condition supported by clinical evidence, no enhancement beyond a return to normal health, an indicated treatment with no reasonable permitted alternative, and a need that did not arise from earlier prohibited use. In the United States, USADA directs athletes outside its testing pools to its TUE Pre-Check Form, with a stated response time of three to five business days.

The NCAA and other programs
College athletes are governed by the NCAA's banned drug classes, including "peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances and mimetics," and the NCAA bans anything chemically or pharmacologically related to a banned class even if not named, with the school and the student-athlete both accountable. Selank is not among the NCAA's published examples; ask your athletics health care provider before starting. Professional leagues, military services and some employers run their own policies; read the current one that applies to you.

Will Selank show up on a drug test?
| Type of test | Does it look for Selank? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Standard workplace panel | No. The federal panel in 49 CFR 40.85 covers drugs of abuse only | Declare prescriptions through the confidential route if asked |
| Expanded panel with benzodiazepines | Still no. Selank is not a benzodiazepine, and a seven-amino-acid peptide has no structural relationship to that class | Declare it anyway if you are asked about prescriptions |
| Anti-doping test | Selank is not named; the S0 question applies. Blends with named components are prohibited | Ask your anti-doping body before starting |
| Clinical testing before a procedure | A safety question, not a screen | Tell the treating clinician everything you take |
On the sport side, a substance being hard to find does not make it permitted. Under Code Article 6.6 stored samples can be reanalysed, and Article 17 allows a charge within ten years. The two testing systems are compared in do peptides show up on a drug test.

Where Selank stands with the FDA
A separate axis. Selank has not been reviewed by the FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee; its sibling Semax was recommended for the 503A Bulks List in July 2026, but Selank was not on that agenda. Compounded Selank is legal to prescribe and dispense with a valid prescription, and it is not FDA approved; compounded medications never are. None of this changes anti-doping status. Side effects are covered in Selank side effects.

If you compete: what to do
| Your situation | What applies |
|---|---|
| In a tested pool, considering Selank alone | Ask your anti-doping body about S0 before starting; check Global DRO and keep the reference number |
| Considering ELEVATE, SERENITY or SYNAPSE | Not an option for a tested athlete; each contains a named prohibited substance |
| Already prescribed and now entering testing | Tell your physician through your account and get advice from your anti-doping body or team physician |
| A college athlete | Ask your athletics health care provider first |
| A recreational athlete never subject to testing | The anti-doping rule does not reach you |
The sibling comparison is in Selank vs Semax, and the anxiety category overview is in peptides for anxiety and mood.

Where to get Selank prescribed
Selank cannot be bought legitimately without a prescription. Sites selling it "for research use only" are not accountable for what is in the vial: identity, purity, sterility and concentration are untested. The prescription route:
- Complete a free online intake covering your history, medications and what you want help with. If you are subject to anti-doping testing, say so there.
- A physician licensed in your state reviews it, usually within 24 hours.
- If it is appropriate, a state-licensed, FDA-registered US pharmacy compounds it to that prescription. Lot test results are published at /quality/lab-results.
- It ships refrigerated with your directions printed on the vial, with sterile syringes and alcohol prep pads.
- Your physician stays reachable for questions through your account.

Common questions
Is Selank Banned in Sports? WADA Status, Blends and Drug Tests, answered.
Selank is not named on the 2026 WADA Prohibited List. The S0 class covers unnamed substances without human therapeutic approval, and Selank has never been approved outside Russia and its neighbours, so a tested athlete should ask their anti-doping body before starting.
If S0 applies to it in your sport, yes: S0 is prohibited at all times, in and out of competition.
Not on a workplace panel, which screens only for drugs of abuse. It is not a benzodiazepine and has no structural relationship to that class. On an anti-doping test the question is S0, not a named listing.
Yes. ELEVATE contains BPC-157 (S0), SERENITY contains CJC-1295 and ipamorelin (S2.2.4), and SYNAPSE contains tesamorelin (S2.2.4) and MOTS-c (S4.4.1). Each is prohibited by virtue of its components.
It is not among the NCAA's published examples, but the NCAA bans anything chemically or pharmacologically related to a banned class. Ask your athletics health care provider before starting.
No. It is a prescription medication, not a scheduled drug, and it is not a benzodiazepine.
Neither is named on the 2026 List. Semax carries an extra question because it is built from ACTH, whose hormone class is listed at S2.2.2; Selank is built from tuftsin. See is Semax banned in sports.
No. It is registered in Russia in an intranasal form and has never been approved by the FDA. Compounded Selank is not FDA approved.
