PT-141 + Oxytocin is a compounded prescription injection, and compounded medications are not FDA approved.

Treatments mentioned
The side effects of PT-141 + Oxytocin come mostly from its PT-141 (bremelanotide) component: nausea, flushing, injection-site reactions and headache in the hours after a dose, a brief rise in blood pressure, and a risk of skin, gum or breast darkening with frequent use. In the phase 3 bremelanotide trials nausea was reported by 40% of women against 1.3% on placebo, but those trials used 1.75 mg, almost nine times the 0.2 mg of PT-141 in a combination dose, and the combination itself has never been studied. The oxytocin component has no systematic safety data at these small subcutaneous doses; it contracts the uterus, which makes pregnancy an absolute exclusion. Chest pain, a severe headache, trouble breathing or an erection lasting more than four hours needs emergency care.

PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
The short answer
| Side effect | Comes from | What the evidence says | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nausea | PT-141 | 40% of women vs 1.3% on placebo in phase 3, at 1.75 mg; most common with the first dose | Usually eases after the first dose; tell your care team if it is marked |
| Flushing | PT-141 (brief flushing is also described with oxytocin) | 20% in phase 3 | Usually short-lived |
| Injection-site reactions | Either; any subcutaneous injection | 13% in phase 3 | Rotate sites; report spreading redness |
| Headache | PT-141 (occasional with oxytocin) | 11% in phase 3 | Report it if it persists or is severe |
| Vomiting | PT-141 | 5% in phase 3 | Report it |
| A brief rise in blood pressure, slower heart rate | PT-141 | About 6/3 mmHg at most, peaking 2 to 4 hours after a dose | Not used with uncontrolled hypertension or heart disease |
| Darkening of skin, gums or breasts | PT-141 | 1% at up to eight doses a month; 38% when dosed daily for eight days | Report any new darkening promptly |
| Uterine contraction | Oxytocin | Its core pharmacology | Why pregnancy is an absolute exclusion |
| Water retention, low blood pressure | Oxytocin | On the hospital product's label, at large intravenous doses | Disclose heart or fluid conditions; report swelling or faintness |
| Facial or throat swelling, widespread hives, trouble breathing | Any injected medication | Serious allergic reaction | Call 911 first, then tell your physician |
The medication this page covers:
| Product | What is in it | Typical printed directions | Per dose | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PT-141 + Oxytocin | 5 mL multi-dose vial: PT-141 2 mg/mL + oxytocin 1 mg/mL (10 mg PT-141 / 5 mg oxytocin per vial) | Inject 0.10 mL (10 units) subcutaneously 2 to 4 hours prior to sexual activity. No more than 8 doses per month | 0.2 mg PT-141 and 0.1 mg oxytocin | $259/mo |
The per-dose figures are arithmetic from the vial concentrations on a U-100 insulin syringe. The price is all-in, covering medication, physician review, refill management and shipping, with no membership fee. Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your intake, and they are printed on the vial.

Why the side-effect picture is built from two components
PT-141 + Oxytocin is two separately studied peptides in one vial. Both are the active ingredients of FDA-approved drugs for other purposes, which is why there is real label data behind each. The combination has never been studied as a combination, so its side-effect picture is assembled from the parts.
| Component | Per dose | Where its safety data comes from | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| PT-141 (bremelanotide) | 0.2 mg | Two phase 3 trials (RECONNECT) of 1,267 premenopausal women, a 52-week extension and a pooled analysis of about 3,500 subjects, all at or around 1.75 mg | Nausea, flushing, headache, the blood pressure rise and the pigmentation warning |
| Oxytocin | 0.1 mg | The hospital product's label, and nasal-spray trials where adverse events did not differ from placebo | Uterine contraction (the pregnancy rule); fluid and blood pressure warnings at large intravenous doses |
Two cautions follow. First, every PT-141 percentage on this page was recorded at a much larger dose than a combination dose carries, and the smaller amount has not been studied for side effects either way. Second, for the oxytocin component at small subcutaneous doses, there are no systematic safety data, an honest gap rather than a reassurance. More on each in PT-141 side effects and oxytocin side effects.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
Common side effects
Nausea
Nausea is the headline side effect of PT-141. On the approved label it typically starts within an hour of a dose and lasts about two hours, is most common with the first dose, and improves for most people with later ones. In the phase 3 trials, 18% of women on bremelanotide stopped because of an adverse reaction against 2% on placebo, nausea being the main reason. The label describes an anti-nausea medicine alongside as an option; that is a conversation for your care team, not something to start on your own. Prescribers suggest taking a first dose on an occasion where a poor response would not matter.
Flushing and headache
Flushing, a warm red face or upper body, was reported by one in five women in the trials, and headache by about one in ten. Both arrive in the hours after a dose. Brief flushing and headache are also what prescribers describe with oxytocin injections, in keeping with how fast oxytocin clears.
Injection-site reactions
Redness, itching or a small lump where the needle went in. Rotate between abdomen and thigh, let the alcohol dry, and use a fresh sterile syringe every time. A 10 unit draw is small, so read the barrel at eye level. A site that is hotter, larger or more painful at 48 hours than at 24 needs a same-day message. Technique is in how to inject peptides safely.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
When side effects show up after a dose
PT-141 + Oxytocin is used on the occasion, so side effects follow the clock of each dose rather than a weekly schedule.
| Time after the dose | What the label and trials describe |
|---|---|
| Within minutes | Oxytocin levels rise and clear; its plasma half-life is a few minutes |
| Within about an hour | PT-141 peaks in the blood; nausea, if it happens, usually starts |
| About one to three hours | Nausea typically lasts about two hours; flushing and headache in the same window |
| Two to four hours | PT-141's blood pressure rise at its peak |
| Up to about twelve hours | Blood pressure usually back to baseline |
| Next dose | Nausea usually less than on the first |
Nothing in the PT-141 trial programme describes dependence, withdrawal or rebound, and none is described for oxytocin. The one effect that may not fully reverse is skin darkening in the minority who develop it.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
The two PT-141 label warnings, and why the monthly ceiling exists
Blood pressure and heart rate
Each dose of bremelanotide causes a transient rise in blood pressure, about 6 mmHg systolic and 3 mmHg diastolic at most in the trials, peaking two to four hours after the dose and usually back to baseline within twelve, while heart rate falls by up to 5 beats a minute. That is why the approved label contraindicates use in uncontrolled hypertension or known cardiovascular disease, and why no more than one dose is taken in 24 hours. The label also states that consecutive doses within 24 hours have not been shown to add anything and may add to the blood pressure effect.
Skin, gum and breast darkening
Bremelanotide's strongest receptor affinity is for MC1R, the receptor on pigment cells, and it keeps some of the pigmentation activity of Melanotan II, the molecule it descends from. Focal darkening of the face, gums and breasts was reported by 1% of women dosing up to eight times a month, but by 38% of people dosed daily for eight days in a separate study, and it did not always resolve after stopping. More in PT-141 vs Melanotan II.
| Rule on the label | The effect behind it |
|---|---|
| No more than once in 24 hours | Each dose adds hours of raised blood pressure; a second dose adds nothing shown |
| No more than 8 doses a month | Pigmentation risk rises with frequent dosing |
| A ceiling, not a target | A vial holds 50 doses; the beyond-use date decides when it is replaced, not the dose count |
A compounded vial does not change that pharmacology. Never take an extra dose because a vial has doses left, and never take a second dose if the first did not seem to work; message your care team instead.

The oxytocin warnings
Pregnancy and the uterus
Oxytocin contracts uterine smooth muscle; that is its approved use, given as a controlled infusion in hospital where delivery is medically indicated. It is not used in pregnancy outside a hospital, and PT-141 has no pregnancy safety data either, so PT-141 + Oxytocin is not used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If there is any chance you are pregnant, tell your physician the same day. If you are trying to conceive, raise it before starting. See can you take peptides while pregnant and do peptides affect fertility.
Fluid balance and blood pressure
At the far larger intravenous doses used in obstetrics, the oxytocin label warns of water retention and low blood pressure. Those doses are not what a compounded vial delivers, but anyone with a heart condition, a fluid-balance condition or a tendency to low blood pressure should say so at intake, and new swelling or faintness after a dose should be reported.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
Interactions
| Interaction | What it means |
|---|---|
| Oral medicines in general | Bremelanotide may slow gastric emptying and reduce absorption of oral medicines taken around the same time |
| Oral naltrexone | Bremelanotide can significantly reduce exposure to it, so people taking naltrexone for alcohol or opioid dependence should not use PT-141 + Oxytocin |
| The PT-141 vial or the oxytocin vial | Using either alongside the combination adds PT-141 or oxytocin from two sources; not something to do without your physician's review |
| Anything for blood pressure or erectile function | List it at intake; there is no established interaction list for the combination |
There is no established interaction list for the compounded combination, because the trials that would produce one have not been run. That is why the intake asks for every medication you take and a physician reviews it rather than a form. Alcohol is covered in PT-141 and alcohol.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
Side effects in men
The phase 3 data, and almost all of the PT-141 percentages here, come from premenopausal women. The men's programme was early-phase: two 2004 studies in the International Journal of Impotence Research reported erectile responses to intranasal and subcutaneous PT-141 and did not produce a side-effect table in our sources. The mechanism is the same in men and women, so the blood pressure, nausea and pigmentation warnings apply to everyone. An erection lasting more than four hours needs emergency care.

When to message your care team, and when to call 911
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Nausea that is marked, or keeps you from functioning | Message your care team |
| Flushing or headache that is unusual for you or does not settle | Message your care team |
| Injection-site redness that spreads, or a lump that grows | Message your care team the same day |
| Any new darkening of the skin, gums or breasts, or a mole that changes | Message your care team promptly |
| New swelling of the hands or ankles, or feeling faint after a dose | Message your care team |
| Any chance you are pregnant | Tell your physician the same day |
| Chest pain, a severe headache, or difficulty breathing | Call 911 or go to an emergency department, then tell your physician |
| Swelling of the face, lips or throat, or widespread hives | Call 911 first, then tell your physician |
| An erection lasting more than four hours | Seek emergency care |
| Fainting, or faintness that does not pass | Call 911 |
If you think you have drawn too much, for example 50 units instead of 10, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 and message your care team. Do not skip, double or change a dose to compensate for anything, and never take an extra dose to push through a side effect.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
Who should not take PT-141 + Oxytocin, or should discuss it first
| Situation | Why |
|---|---|
| Uncontrolled high blood pressure or known heart disease | Each dose transiently raises blood pressure; the bremelanotide label contraindicates both |
| Taking oral naltrexone | PT-141 can sharply reduce its exposure |
| History of melanoma or atypical moles | PT-141 carries a pigmentation warning |
| Pregnancy or breastfeeding | Not used; oxytocin contracts the uterus, and safety data is absent |
| Trying to conceive | Raise it before starting |
| A cardiac or fluid-balance condition, or low blood pressure | Oxytocin's label warnings at large doses; disclose at intake |
| Low desire that started with a new medication, depression or anxiety | Those were exclusion criteria in every PT-141 trial; the cause comes first |
| Already prescribed PT-141 or oxytocin alone | Two sources of the same component |
| Under 18 | Pepti prescribes to adults only |
| Tested athletes | Neither bremelanotide nor oxytocin is named on the 2026 WADA Prohibited List; check your sport's current rules anyway |
Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account.
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects
What the evidence shows, honestly
PT-141's side-effect profile is better characterised than that of almost any other peptide prescribed today, because the same active ingredient went through two phase 3 trials, a year-long extension and a pooled safety analysis. The limits: those data come mainly from premenopausal women using a fixed 1.75 mg autoinjector, up to eight times a month, and a combination dose carries 0.2 mg. Oxytocin has decades of obstetric use and nasal-spray trials where adverse events matched placebo, but nothing that describes small subcutaneous doses in this vial. And the combination has never been studied, so nobody has measured whether the two together behave differently from either alone.
Where it stands with the FDA: both active ingredients are components of FDA-approved drugs, which is how a licensed pharmacy may compound them, and neither was ever nominated to the 503A bulks list or affected by the 2026 changes to it. The combination vial is a different formulation prepared to a prescription; it has not been reviewed by the FDA, and compounded medications are not FDA approved. The benefit side is in PT-141 benefits and oxytocin benefits.

Where to get PT-141 + Oxytocin prescribed
PT-141 + Oxytocin cannot be bought legitimately without a prescription. Sites selling it "for research use only" are not accountable for what is in the vial: identity, purity, sterility and concentration are untested, and a side-effect profile only means something when the dose is known. The prescription route:
- Complete a free online intake covering your history, medications, blood pressure, pregnancy status and what you want help with.
- A physician licensed in your state reviews it, usually within 24 hours.
- If it is appropriate, a PCAB-accredited, FDA-registered US 503A compounding pharmacy prepares it to that prescription. Lot test results are published at /quality/lab-results.
- It ships refrigerated with ice packs, with sterile syringes, alcohol prep pads and your directions printed on the vial.
- Your physician stays reachable for questions, side effects and dose changes.

Common questions
PT-141 + Oxytocin Side Effects, answered.
Mostly the PT-141 component's: nausea, flushing, injection-site reactions and headache in the hours after a dose, a brief rise in blood pressure, and a risk of skin darkening with frequent use. The oxytocin component adds the pregnancy exclusion and has no systematic safety data at these doses.
Each active ingredient has an approved-drug label behind it, and PT-141's side effects are well documented at a larger dose. The combination has never been studied, and it is not appropriate with uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, oral naltrexone, pregnancy or breastfeeding.
That has not been studied. A combination dose carries 0.2 mg PT-141 against 1 mg from a PT-141 vial dose, but no trial has measured side effects at the smaller amount.
They follow each dose. Nausea usually starts within an hour and lasts about two hours. The blood pressure rise peaks two to four hours after the dose and is usually gone within twelve. Skin darkening, in the minority who develop it, may not fully reverse.
The PT-141 component does, briefly: about 6 mmHg systolic and 3 mmHg diastolic at most in the trials, peaking two to four hours after a dose. That is why it is not used with uncontrolled hypertension or heart disease.
It can. Focal darkening of the face, gums or breasts was reported in 1% of women dosing PT-141 up to eight times a month and in 38% dosed daily for eight days. Report any new darkening.
The ceiling comes from the approved bremelanotide label. Each dose raises blood pressure for a few hours, and pigmentation risk rises with frequent dosing.
No. Oxytocin contracts the uterus and is not used in pregnancy outside a hospital, and PT-141 has no pregnancy safety data. If you could be pregnant, tell your physician the same day.
Bremelanotide may reduce absorption of oral medicines taken around the same time and significantly reduces exposure to oral naltrexone, so it should not be used with oral naltrexone. List every medication at intake.
For chest pain, a severe headache, difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, fainting, or an erection lasting more than four hours. Call 911 or go to an emergency department, then tell your physician.
Call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 and message your care team. Call 911 for chest pain, fainting or trouble breathing. Do not take another dose to compensate.
No. Bloodwork is not required for any Pepti treatment. If your physician wants labs for your care, they'll ask through your account. The free assessment goes to a physician licensed in your state. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription.
