Can You Drink Alcohol on DSIP? What Is Known, and What to Tell Your Physician

This page covers what is and is not known about DSIP and alcohol, why the opioid-system link matters, how alcohol affects the sleep DSIP is aimed at, what the 1980s alcohol withdrawal studies were and were not, the symptoms that need emergency care, and what to tell your care team.

DSIP (Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide) (Injectable)
DSIP (Delta Sleep Inducing Peptide)$249/mo

No study has looked at alcohol together with DSIP, so there is no evidence either way on whether the combination is safe or what it does. What the live research does say is that DSIP's described mechanism runs through the body's own opioid system, and for that reason any regular alcohol use, like any opioid, benzodiazepine or sedative, should be raised with your physician before you start. Evening alcohol also degrades deep sleep, which works directly against the reason DSIP is prescribed. Your physician's advice for your situation takes precedence over anything on this page.

The short answer

If this describes you What the live guidance says What to do
You drink occasionally No combination has been studied Put it on your intake; ask your physician about your own situation
You drink regularly Specifically named as something to raise before starting, because of the opioid-system mechanism Discuss it with your physician first
You also take an opioid, benzodiazepine, sedative or sleeping pill Also named as something to raise before starting Discuss it first; do not stop a prescription without your prescriber
You drink in the evening to help you sleep Evening alcohol degrades deep sleep Tell your physician; it changes the picture of what is causing poor sleep
You are drinking more than you want to, or have had withdrawal symptoms DSIP is not a treatment for alcohol withdrawal Tell your physician; that belongs with addiction medicine
Very slow or shallow breathing, or someone is hard to wake Needs emergency assessment Call 911

What is actually known about DSIP and alcohol

  • No combination has been studied

There is no trial, case series or interaction study of DSIP taken with alcohol. There is also no established interaction list for DSIP at all, because the trials that would produce one have not been run, and there is no human safety data for the subcutaneous route it is prescribed by today. The FDA's search of its adverse event reporting system for emideltide, DSIP's international name, through March 2024 returned zero reports, which says nothing reported, not that anything was tested.

That absence is not permission and it is not a warning. It means the question has to be answered from what is known about how DSIP is described to work, and from what alcohol does to sleep.

  • Why the opioid-system link matters

In rats, the opioid antagonist naloxone blocked DSIP's ability to prolong sleep. Cell work found DSIP does not bind opioid receptors directly; it was instead reported to trigger release of the body's own enkephalins from neurons. It is an indirect action, not a direct opioid effect. But it is the reason the live DSIP pages single out opioids, benzodiazepines, sedatives and regular alcohol as the things to disclose before starting: they are the substances most likely to matter if DSIP's mechanism behaves in people the way it was described in animals, and nobody has checked.

What is described Where it comes from What it means for alcohol
Naloxone blocked DSIP's sleep effect Rats DSIP's action appears to run partly through the opioid system
DSIP triggered enkephalin release, without binding opioid receptors Cell work Indirect, not a direct opioid effect
No sedation two hours after dosing First healthy-volunteer study DSIP is not a sedative on its own
No combination with alcohol, opioids or sedatives studied All of the literature The reason to disclose rather than assume
  • DSIP is not a sedative, but alcohol is

In the first healthy-volunteer study, subjects felt a "pressure to sleep" during the infusion but two hours later showed no sleepiness and no impaired performance. The 1980s work described changes in the shape of sleep rather than sedation. Alcohol is a sedative. That is a different thing to be stacking at bedtime, and the reason a sedative or alcohol on top of a bedtime injection is a conversation rather than a default.

Alcohol works against the sleep DSIP is prescribed for

DSIP is prescribed for light, broken sleep, often with a stress component, once other causes have been considered. Evening alcohol is one of those causes. The live sleep guidance names evening alcohol, caffeine after midday and an inconsistent wake time as the three most common reasons a night is shallow, and lists alcohol among the usual explanations for waking at three in the morning and not getting back down. For men in particular, it is described as the most common reversible cause of fragmented sleep and the least often raised.

Sleep complaint Common causes the live pages list Where alcohol sits
Waking at 3 a.m. and not getting back down Alcohol, blood-sugar swings, apnoea, hormonal transition Named first
Seven to eight hours, still exhausted Fragmented or shallow sleep, often apnoea Evening alcohol degrades deep sleep
Snoring, witnessed pauses, morning headache Obstructive sleep apnoea until proven otherwise A sleep study comes first

The practical point: if you drink in the evening and sleep badly, the alcohol may be part of why, and a physician will want to know before prescribing anything for the sleep. Peptides for sleep sets out the order a physician sorts the complaint in.

The alcohol withdrawal studies

DSIP's link to alcohol in the literature is mostly about withdrawal, and it is easy to misread.

A 1984 paper in European Neurology from Geneva gave intravenous DSIP to 107 inpatients in alcohol or opiate withdrawal and reported symptoms resolving or improving in the large majority, with insomnia often returning afterwards. A 1998 open trial in the Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology treated seven opioid-dependent patients; only two completed the schedule. Both were open-label with no control group, and both sets of authors said so. The FDA reviewed this work in 2026 and judged it insufficient.

What that means for you. It is not evidence that DSIP makes drinking safer, prevents a hangover or helps someone cut down. It is not a use Pepti prescribes for. Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, and it is managed in addiction medicine with approved medications. If you are drinking more than you want to, or have had shakes, sweats or worse when you stop, tell your physician; that changes the clinical picture entirely.

Low blood pressure in the withdrawal series

The same 1984 series recorded transient headache, nausea and vertigo in a handful of patients, and two cases of low blood pressure at the first injection, in people whose symptoms were hard to attribute. Report light-headedness or fainting after a dose, and tell your physician about any blood-pressure medicine, because laboratory work reports DSIP being broken down by an enzyme that some of them inhibit.

Can You Drink Alcohol on DSIP? What Is Known, and What to Tell Your Physician

What to tell your physician

Tell them about Why
How much and how often you drink, honestly Regular alcohol use is named as something to raise before starting
Whether you drink in the evening or to get to sleep It changes what is likely causing the poor sleep
Any opioid, benzodiazepine, sedative or sleeping pill Named for the same reason as alcohol
Any blood-pressure medicine An enzyme some of them inhibit breaks DSIP down
Snoring or witnessed pauses in breathing Apnoea needs a sleep study, and DSIP does not treat it
Any past withdrawal symptoms Withdrawal belongs with addiction medicine

Your physician sets your directions after reviewing your intake, and they are printed on the vial. Never change, skip or double a dose on your own.

The SERENITY blend

The SERENITY Blend contains DSIP, so the points on this page apply to it too, along with Selank, CJC-1295 and ipamorelin. None of those combinations with alcohol has been studied either. The blend is covered in what is the SERENITY blend.

Can You Drink Alcohol on DSIP? What Is Known, and What to Tell Your Physician

What the evidence shows, honestly

Nobody has studied DSIP with alcohol. What can be said is limited and specific: DSIP's described mechanism runs through the opioid system, which is why regular alcohol use is something to raise before starting; DSIP is not a sedative, while alcohol is; evening alcohol degrades the deep sleep DSIP is prescribed to support; and the withdrawal studies were small, uncontrolled and are not a reason to combine the two. Any source giving you a "safe number of drinks" on DSIP is inventing it.
