The process
How the coverage check works.
Submit your insurance details
Takes 2 minutes. We collect your name, DOB, state, insurance carrier, member ID, and basic eligibility info.
We run a real-time eligibility check
Our system pings your insurance to see whether GLP-1 weight-loss medications are on your plan's formulary, and whether prior authorization is required.
Care team review
A pepti care team member reviews the result and reaches out within 1–2 business days with what we found and your options.
Physician evaluation (if covered)
If your plan covers brand-name GLP-1s and you want to proceed, a pepti-network physician reviews your medical history and writes a prescription if clinically appropriate.
Prescription routed to your pharmacy
We e-prescribe to a retail pharmacy that accepts your insurance. You pick up the medication and your plan's copay applies.
FAQ
Common questions
What does pepti actually do here?
We collect your insurance information, run a real-time eligibility check, and our care team reviews your plan to see whether brand-name GLP-1s are likely to be covered. If clinically appropriate and your plan covers it, a pepti-network physician can prescribe the brand-name medication and route the prescription to a retail pharmacy that accepts your insurance. Coverage is never guaranteed and depends on your plan, prior authorization requirements, and provider review.
How long does the coverage check take?
We typically have an answer for you within 1–2 business days for the initial eligibility check. If your plan requires a prior authorization, that can take an additional 3–10 business days depending on the insurer. We'll keep you updated at every step.
Does this cost anything?
The coverage check itself is free. If you decide to move forward with brand-name treatment, your costs depend on your plan — copay, deductible, prior authorization. If you choose to go cash-pay (compounded), we have transparent monthly pricing.
What if my insurance doesn't cover it?
You're not stuck. pepti also offers cash-pay compounded GLP-1 options (Semaglutide and Tirzepatide) at a fraction of brand-name pricing — no insurance required, transparent monthly cost, free shipping. We'll show you both paths after the coverage check.
Why not just buy Zepbound or Wegovy directly from pepti?
Brand-name medications go through your insurance and a retail pharmacy of your choice — that's how the system works. pepti's role is helping you get a clinically appropriate prescription and navigating the insurance process. We do not stock or dispense brand-name medications ourselves.
What insurance plans do you check?
Most major commercial insurance plans (Aetna, Anthem/Blue Cross, Cigna, United Healthcare, Humana, Kaiser, and most regional Blues). Medicare Part D coverage for GLP-1s is limited and varies; Medicaid coverage varies by state. We'll let you know during the check.
What's the difference between brand-name and compounded?
Brand-name medications (Zepbound®, Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Mounjaro®) are FDA-approved drugs manufactured by Eli Lilly or Novo Nordisk. Compounded medications are prepared by an FDA-registered 503A or 503B compounding pharmacy from FDA-regulated active pharmaceutical ingredients. Both require a prescription. Brand-name typically goes through insurance; compounded is typically cash-pay.
